VIVAnews - Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that the growth in banking credit up until June 9, 2010, reached 18.68 percent (year-on-year) valuing to Rp 1,531.5 trillion.

"[The report on] sectoral credit growth is yet to be ready. The available data is only for banks," said BI Directorate of Economic Research and Monetary Policy, Perry Warjiyo, in Jakarta today, June 21.

According to Perry, year-to-date credit growth has touched 7.1 percent, equaling Rp 101.3 trillion as of June 9, 2010.

He viewed that private banks have all in all disbursed credit compared to those channeled by state-owned banks.

Given the significant growth in national banking credit, BI believed that the targeted credit rise would overstep the previous estimate of 14-18 percent. "In the years to come, I believe a figure of 20 percent or more can be achieved," said Perry.
