Govt Approves 5 Special Economic Zones

The government now focuses on developing the five corridors jointly with private sectors.

VIVAnews - The Indonesian government will shortly set up five out of 48 regencies/municipalities which have proposed of becoming special economic zone.

Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa said the five areas okayed to the plan. "We have prioritized at least five special economic zones  until 2014," he said today, June 22.

Unfortunately, he was still reluctant of naming the set areas.

Hatta said the government now focuses on developing the five corridors jointly with private sectors.

The special economic zones will accommodate special clusters by which every cluster would take in top products of a particular area.

Those products considered superior include everything based on marine and agricultural sectors as well as coal mineral and petrochemicals.
