VIVAnews - Acts of terrors, gunshots, and killings have been everyday occurrences in Papua within the last two years. The Free Papua Movement (OPM) is alleged of setting off the actions.

Police must deal with various obstacles such as minimum field devices as well as challenging geographic area.

"Mountains are almost everywhere, and the OPM live there. Should an ambush is set up, the would easily monitor everything from up there before launching an attack," said Puncak Jaya Police Department Chief, Alex Korwa, today.

In addition, police officers have to endure the extreme temperatures and less oxygen at high altitude. "We're terribly troubled," he said.

Meanwhile, said Alex, the devices owned by the officers on-duty are limited.

According to him, if helicopters and night-visions are available for the pursuit, it will be easier to chase and arrest the OPM members.

Alex claimed that on July 1, the day the OPM commemorating its anniversary, no flags of morning star were raised.
