VIVAnews - Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare, Agung Laksono, said the Indonesian government plans to replace millions of gas cylinders that do not meet the Indonesian National Standards.
"I think there are around 9 million cylinders [which will be replaced]," said Agung today, July 28.
Agung said the withdrawal will be carried out as soon as possible.
"We'll discuss about the issue tomorrow," said the minister.
Agung also said the removal will be done in phases.
He then claimed that the use of the current cylinders has been a result of the former government's policy. The cylinders have met the standards prepared by Japan and Australia. "They're indeed not approved by Pertamina. But the cylinders have met international standards," said Agung.
