VIVAnews - Tanjung Priok Harbor will focus expansion on the northern part of the complex in its attempt of becoming the hub of international ports.
In a release received by VIVAnews today, Pelindo cited the development project will be carried out by reclaiming 246 hectare of land on the northern coast.
The reclamation will go in three phases with a balanced 50-50 financing scheme between Pelindo II and a strategic partner. He expected that in 2020, Tanjung Priok Harbor can hold 9.5 million of containers. After the development, ships of Suezmax post-Panamax can dock in Tanjung Priok harbor.
In fact, Pelindo II managing director RJ Lino said the expansion project will be supported by toll roads that are connected to industrial hubs in the Jakarta hinterland such as Bekasi, Cikarang, Cikampek, and so on.
"This will emphasize Tanjung Priok as the hub of international port as well as improving regional container trans-shipment," said Lino.
As for the development, Pelindo has allocated Rp 12 trillion of investment fund in the period of between 2010 and 2013.
