VIVAnews - After Yahoo! acquired an Indonesian location-based social network site Koprol, its users soar twice as much, according to a Koprol founder, Satya Witoelar, in Jakarta, August 10.

"The Internet will play more important role in the lives of Indonesian people such as in school classes, work environment, and sosial life," said Satya.

Not only only does Koprol's users double in number, their activities have increased by three times. In fact, in cities outside Jakarta, the number of users multiplies by five times.

In the future, it is estimated that the growth will be more as telecommunication operators have reduced data tariff and cell phone prices in the country are lower.

Compared to Koprol's recorded data user prior to the acquisition, current users of the new site is figured at around 150 thousand.

Koprol improves its service by introducing a new feature called curator, which enables its users to buzz about new spots.

For the time being, Koprol has provided mobile apps for BlackBerry platforms. It soon readies java-based platforms which may be accessed from cell phones.
