VIVAnews - Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Marzuki Alie shore up the attempts of the Ministry of Communications and Information in banning porn sites by asking the participation of telecommunication operators. It is aimed at alleviating traffic to porn sites by 90 percent during Ramadhan.

However, Marzuki has another suggestion. "Please inform Mr Tifatul (Minister of Communications and Information) to block porn sites by 100 percent instead of only 90 percent," Marzuki said in Jakarta, August 11.

He claimed that any porn sites should not gain any access. "The ban is based on keywords and passwords. Most importantly, our kids cannot log in to the said porn sites," said Marzuki.

He surrendered the technical issues of the ban to the Ministry of Communications and Information.

On Tuesday, August 10, the Ministry of Communications and Information banned top porn sites joining with major Indonesian internet providers such as Indosat, Telkomsel, XL, IM2, Telkom, and Bakrie Telecom.

The six operators dominate the country's market share at 87 percent.

Indonesia is among the countries worldwide having the largest users accessing porn sites.

"Fully applying bans to the available porn sites is impossible. But anyhow, the ban is forever," said the minister.
