VIVAnews - Japan-based company Itochu Corporation of Japan is willing to invest in Central Kalimantan to build railyways by preparing US$2 billion of fund.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa said the railway development is important to complete the transportation facilities aiming at commodities.

"Trains will eventually reduce the high costs that have been spent for transporting commodities," said Hatta today.

In addition to the costly distribution, weather also affects the process. During dry season, transportation will be postponed due to lower river water surface.

"Depending only on the fluctuating water of the rivers is not efficient at all," he said.
