VIVAnews - Bank Indonesia figured that the credit growth is still at 12.5 percent (year-to-date). However, given the year-on-year record, the credit growth has exceeded 20 percent.

According to acting Governor of Bank Indonesia, Darmin Nasution, the credit growth is still considered slow. He expected that the growth can reach 20 percent at an economic growth of around six percent.

"By the end of the year, the credit growth of [20 percent] should be achieved," said Darmin yesterday, August 31.

Earlier, Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that along the second week of August (9-13 August 2010), credit rose Rp 5.44 trillion to Rp 1,592.3 trillion. On a year-to-date basis, credit grew 11.33 percent (19.54 percent at year-on-year basis).

According to Chief of Public Relations Bureau, Difi A Johansyah, credit disbursement is not balanced with the rise in third party fund, which dropped Rp 8.4 trillion to Rp 2,058.79 trillion.

Credit using rupiah currency increased Rp 3.79 trillion while foreign exchange rose Rp 1.64 trillion. Annual credit growth reaches 21.82 percent, higher than foreign exchange credit at 6.95 percent.
