Elections Will Stimulate Economy

Spending by political parties will help boost the Indonesian economy.

VIVAnews - According to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, the upcoming 2009 Elections, to be held in April, will stimulate the national economy.

"I'm convinced that political parties will spend a lot of money," said Sri Mulyani on Wednesday, Jan. 14. As a result, it will help boost the economy.

The government expect that the economic growth can be maintained at around 4.5 to 5.5 percent. In addition to the fund stimulation allocated in the 2009 State Budget, security issue will also stimulate other sectors. In the new 2009 Budget assumption, economic growth is set at five percent.

“On condition that the next election is held safely and securely,” she said. Sri Mulyani hopes that the 1997-1998 political crises will never happen again.
