VIVAnews - Thousands of workers in Jakarta plan to hold massive protest following a disappointment over another delay in pay rise regarding Jakarta minimum salary this year.
The Jakarta Labor Forum urged Governor of the Indonesian capital, Fauzi Bowo, to immediately set the minimum salary on Feb 13 at the latest.
"Why hasn't the governor passed the new standard? It's February already. Based on the ruling, the salary standard should have been set up by January 2012," said Jakarta Labor Forum spokesman, Muhammad Rusdi, today, Feb 9.
The forum called for the provincial government to include the retail sector in the 2012 salary standard as well as listing eight companies in metal sector into the standard.
"It's a shame that the Jakarta Salary Council has cancelled the insertion of retail sector into the 2012 salary standard," he said.
Rusdi said the Jakarta Labor Forum will initiate protest before the City Hall for 2 consecutive days between Feb 13 and Feb 14.
Chief of Jakarta Manpower & Transmigration Agency, Deded Sukandar, said the proposed standard of 2012 salary had been delivered to a team under the supervision of the Jakarta Governor 10 days ago on Monday, Jan 30.
