VIVAnews – The current riot that took place in Class IIA of Kerobokan Penitentiary in Denpasar is starting to smother. The fire that burned the prison area has been extinguished. The inmates who had previously tried to take control of the tower to attack the police have been seized.
In order to control the situation in the prison, the police, with the aid of Kodam IX Udayana military personnel, prepared to enter the prison this morning.
“We have an order to break into the prison,” said Komang Suarjana of the Brimobda Bali Police to VIVAnews, on Wednesday, Feb 22.
Earlier, the largest penitentiary in Bali was rioted since 11 PM on Tuesday, Feb 21. The inmates started the riot and set fire in the prison which contained approximately 1,300 inmates. They started the fire and pelted the police with stones.
Until early Wednesday, the riot still has not been contained. The officers were still trying to enter the prison. Bali Police spokesperson, Chief. Comm. Hariadi stated that his officers were still trying to find out the cause of this riot.
“We can’t determine the cause yet. At the moment, we are still focusing on securing the area,” said Hariadi.
