VIVAnews - Surabaya - Madura (Suramadu) bridge, which was officiated by April 1, will possibly last up to 100 years.
"Maintaining the bridge will be the most important issue," said Director General of Highways at the Department of Public Works, Hermanto Dardak.
According to him, in order to monitor the condition of the bridge's structure, the Structural Health Monitoring System will be applied. Therefore, he expected that people participate in maintaining the bridge.
He also hoped that fishermen take good care of the pillar of the bridge of the Suramadu national bridge. Dardak requested that fishermen do not tie their boats on the pillar because it may ruin the corrosion-resist system.
