VIVAnews - The Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (Pertina) will send four boxers to the 2009 Kings Cup. The championship will be held in Thailand between April 6 and April 15, 2009.
The boxers include Deni Hitarihun (48 Kg/East Nusa Tenggara), Arenaldo Moniaga (57 Kg/Jakarta), Julio Bria (51 Kg/Bali) and Mifta Lubis (64 Kg/West Sumatra). They will for the venue today, April 3.
"We'd like to see how will they compete in an international cup," said special trainer Ferry Moniaga.
According to Moniaga, Pertina does not obligate the boxers to reach certain target. Their assignment was due to a preparation prior to the 2009 SEA Games in Laos.
"This will be their first international event after they were seriously drilled in Lido. They will also meet tough rivals in the cup," said Moniaga.
Kings Cup is an annual boxing event. It is aimed at celebrating the King of Thailand's birthday. Various boxers from Asian and European countries often participate in the Cup.
Last year, Pertina brought two boxers to the Cup. Unfortunately, none of them got any medals.
