VIVAnews - Dozens of children locked in Tangerang juvenile prison are taking the junior-high-level national final exam in the prison.

Head of Tangerang Juvenile Prison Management, Bagus Sumartono, said on Tuesday, April 28, that there are 35 inmates who are of equal level with junior high students but only 15 out of the number take the exam.

The national final exam in the prison is similar with the one taking place at schools. During the exam, the inmates are watched by an independent monitoring team. The materials tested was the same materials given in public schools. The exam lasts for four days and each subject must be completed in 120 minutes.

Sumartono said that a week prior to the exam, the inmates are not placed in cells. They are given the opportunity to study in a special room.

Sarjono, a junior high school student who is under 1.5 years of imprisonment by virtue of sexual abuse said that he does not have any problem during the exam since the prison officials have provided them with a try-out session ahead of the exam.
