VIVAnews - Seven out of 18 companies have finished printing ballots for the upcoming presidential elections. Therefore, there have been 97,792,790 printed pieces out of 180 millions copies.

"Today [a consortium company] Ghalia has finished printing, probably [other companies] will also finish by tomorrow”, General Elections Commission’s (KPU) Deputy of Logistic Bureau Boradi said in Jakarta on Monday, June 15.

The seven companies which have finished their part are, namely, Lancar Jaya Abadi, Mega Indah, Rizki Grafis, Dian Rakyat, Harapan Baru, Sarana Panca Karya Nusa and Indah Jaya.

Those companies are under the same consortium, PT Indah Karya Adi Pratama, which prints ballots for packet 1.

After being printed, Boradi said the ballots would be distributed to areas.

Before being sent to the voting spots, the ballots will be examined by the regency and municipal KPU. If any damages are found, local KPU officials will report them to the central KPU.

If the damages occurred during printing or distribution process, the company will be held responsible. But, if the damages occurred during sorting process, for example if the ballots are flooded with water, KPU will take the responsibility.

All damaged ballots will be re-printed. Boradi also said KPU has allocated a certain amount of fund to anticipate such case.

According to KPU’s estimation, ballot printing and distribution to the areas cost around Rp 78 billion.
