VIVAnews - Education was one of the issues posed to the three vice presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto, Boediono, and Wiranto. Responding to the question about education, Wiranto said there was not any sustainability in education.

“A sustainable education is a must. There must be a grand strategy in education. Don’t change the policy although the ministers are no longer in office. It’s hard to follow if the change in ministerial office is always followed by the change of policy”, Wiranto said during the “Building the Nation’s Identity” debate at the SCTV Studio at Senayan City, Jakarta on Tuesday, June 23.

Indonesian education, Wiranto said, cannot be separated from the cultural process as well.

“There must be a cultural education to educate the people”, he said.

Meanwhile, another vice presidential candidate, Prabowo said education was the instrument for equality for the poor.

As for Boediono, he assumed there were three points involved in education, which were the content, the system, and the government policy.

“The content involves the strategy and substance of education,” he said.

Another thing that also requires attention is the government policy. So far, the education budget is more sufficient than the budget for any other sectors.

Boediono went on by saying that education policy and people’s access to education is quite important.

“So, the quality of education and the access to it is very important”, he said.
