VIVAnews - The Election Commission (KPU) is lacking Rp 1.4 trillion out of Rp 4 trillion worth of second round presidential elections budget.
The commission later demanded the House of Representatives (DPR) to provide additional budget.
“We have asked DPR to pass our request to the Finance Minister”, Secretary General of Election Commission, Suripto Bambang Setyadi, said at the Commission office on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jakarta on Wednesday, June 24.
According to him, the commission had saved Rp 2.5 trillion out of Rp 13.5 trillion of legislative elections budget.
However, the remaining fund cannot cover the second round presidential elections budget worth Rp 4,025,676,989,207.
“The money will be used for logistic needs, campaigns, salary, ballots procurement, forms and phased activities”, he said.
The second round of presidential elections will be held if there is not any presidential candidate who gains 50 percent of votes with minimum 20 percent in more than 17 provinces in the coming elections.
If it is required to be held, the second round elections will be conducted in September.
