VIVAnews - Coordinator of People's Synergy for Indonesian Democracy (Sigma), Christopel Nalenan, said he feared that the upcoming presidential elections on July 8 would be hampered due to the final voters list issue.
The concern of the institution was based on several findings in the fields. One of them is the fact that not every Election Committee (PPS) has received the voters lists.
“The lists are supposed to be received by all of the committees by now,” Nalenan said on Wednesday, July 1.
He also said that if the lists were in the hands of the PPS, they would have informed the lists to the people.
Therefore, the public are convinced of whether they are eligible to vote or not.
Nalenan said he did not want the case occurred during the April 9 legislative elections to re-appear. At that time, the inaccuracy of the voters lists was figured out after it reached the PPS.
“This is a lesson from the legislative elections. Apparently, there were a lot of changes in the voters list thereof. Some names were not listed in the list. The dead were still recorded in the list as well,” he said.
He went on by saying that the lists should be delivered to the PPS as soon as possible to alleviate invalidity.
