Taiwan Investors Build Two Factories

Each factory's production capacity is predicted to reaching 5-6 million pairs every year.

VIVAnews - Investors from Taiwan have disbursed US$10 million fund to build two shoes factories in Indonesia. The two factories are set up by two different companies.

The Indonesia Shoemakers Association Executive Director Singgih Witarso explained that the two factories would be located in Sukabumi, West Java.

"One factory has been running since the end of 2008, the other one is in preparation," he said in Jakarta on July 3.

The prepared factory will operate in the next two up to three months. Both factories produce leather shoes under the brand Lacoste and all production is planned to be exported.

"Each factory's production capacity is predicted to reaching 5-6 million pairs every year," he said.

The factories will absorb 10,000 labors for the production process.
