VIVAnews - Two presidential candidates, Jusuf Kalla (JK) and Megawati Soekarnoputri met yesterday to discuss about the final voters list (DPT) issue. If eventually there is a second round in the presidential elections, the two candidates will possibly form a coalition.

“There is a potential that the elections will need a second round. If it does happen, JK and Mega are likely to form a coalition,” political observer and the Director of Reform Institute, Yudi Latif said to VIVAnews on Monday, July 6.

According to him, that is a political reality in which every thing is possible. The chance of having the second round of presidential elections is based on the survey done from June 30 to July 2. The complete results of the survey will be presented by Latif later this afternoon.

“If there is a second round, the chance will be fifty-fifty,” the social-political doctor, who graduated from the Australian National University, said.

Latif analyzed that if the second round is finally held, the candidates that will certainly go through are Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Boediono. Meanwhile, the rivals of the pairs still cannot be predicted. “One thing that’s certain, the chance of the coalition (between JK and Mega) is really high. Especially because they’ve been planning to do it for long,” he said.

JK and Megawati met yesterday night at the Muhammadiyah Head Office. The meeting, which was facilitated by the Head of Muhammadiyah, Din Syamsuddin, resulted in an agreement on the DPT issue.

They also gave an ultimatum to the General Elections Commission (KPU) to solve the DPT problem right away, or else the elections will be delayed.
