VIVAnews - Leo Batubara, a member of the Press Board, thought that the defamation lawsuit made by Aburizal Bakrie on Tempo magazine had reached a point of settlement.
"Aburizal through his legal representative stated that [he] valued the press control," Batubara said when interviewed by VIVAnews on Thursday, July 9. For a change, Aburizal expected the press to maintain their professionalism, added Batubara. The Press Board became the facilitator in the dispute between Aburizal and Tempo weekly magazine.
The defamation lawsuit is a result of one of Tempo magazine publications entitled "Siapa Peduli Bakrie". The story tended to disgrace Bakrie's family reputation. Other than that, the cover issue was also considered inappropriate since the cover showed Aburizal with a 666 on his forehead.
Batubara said the Board would invite Aburizal and Tempo magazine in a three-party meeting which might be held on July 15 or 16. "We hope Aburizal and the Tempo's chief will come in person, not represented by their legal advisers," he added.
