VIVAnews - The Health Agency of Jakarta has ordered every medical clinic in the city to be prepared in facing the outbreak of the A H1N1 flu which is also known as the swine flu.
The Agency’s spokesperson, Tini Suryanti, said on Wednesday, July 15, that every medical clinic had been instructed to provide isolation rooms.
"The rooms must not be air-conditioned because air conditioner enables the virus to spread faster,” Suryanti said. “Most importantly, there must not be any contact with other patients or the visitors”, she said.
The Health Agency has also distributed 75 thousand of Tamiflu to medical clinics all over Jakarta.
“When the patients suffer from cough, flu, continuous high fever, diarrhea, nausea, and troubled-breathing, they must be given the Tamiflu,” she said.
If the patients are not getting better, the clinicians must refer the patients to the swine flu reference hospitals. “Because those are the symptoms of the swine flu, the clinicians must also report to the Health Agency,” Suryanti said.
After receiving reports from the clinics, the Agency will send a supervisory team to check the patients’ neighborhood. They will also make a list of other people living around the area who experience the same symptoms.
“If there are any similar symptoms found, medical clinics must soon distribute the Tamiflu to the locals to prevent the virus from spreading further,” she said.
Jakarta has two national reference hospitals for the swine flu patients which are the Sulianti Saroso Hospital for Infectious Diseases and the Gatot Soebroto Hospital. Both hospitals have the most adequate facilities such as the isolation rooms, medical equipments and teams, as well as medicines. “So, the treatment can be more optimal,” she said.
In addition, the Health Agency of Jakarta will also supervise the arrival gates at the Soekarno-Hatta airport and the Tanjung Priok Harbor.
