VIVAnews – Bank Indonesia (BI) sees that the annual inflation in July may reach 3 percent year-on-year (yoy) due to the low price of commodities while the global economy has yet to grow perfectly.

“The economy is still low,” said BI's Governor Hartadi Sarwono in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 21. He expected that the recent bomb incidents in Jakarta would not give significant effect to the inflation movement.

He estimated that July's inflation would reach 3.65 percent, lower than June. “I am not worried, [the inflation] can even reach 3 percent year-on-year,” he explained.

Sarwono argued that the 2010 inflation must be monitored since at that time the world economy would have recovered. When economy improves, the global oil price and other commodities will be escalated, thus increasing the inflation pressure.
