VIVAnews - The military leader of Taliban in Pakistan, Baitullah Mehsud, is reportedly still alive and suffers from serious illness. One of Taliban members, Maulan Nur Syed, denied the claim that Baitullah Mehsud died during the US missile attack on Wednesday, August 5.
Earlier, according to their intelligence source, US and Pakistan said Baitullah Mehsud was killed in a missile attack by crewless airplanes in a remote area. There was also a report on intense battle between Mehsud’s potential replacements after the attack. To BBC on Sunday, August 9, Maulana Nur Syed said Mehsud was not in the house destroyed by the missiles.
However, according to BBC’s correspondent in Pakistan, Taliban purposely denied the report to extend the time before finally announcing the most wanted man in Pakistan was actually dead.
Although the government of Pakistan said they had strong evidence to proof Baitullah Mehsud died, Taliban’s senior commander, Hakimullah Mehsud, declared Baitullah was alive and well.
Home Affairs Minister of Pakistan later asked Taliban to proof the existence of Mehsud. Meanwhile, the situation in the militant territory in North West Pakistan still remains uninformed.
