VIVAnews - Israel’s warship bombed a tunnel in the frontier area between the Gaza Strip and Israel on Monday, August 10, local time. Israel military stated the bombing was the counter strike of mortars and rockets attack launched by Gaza in the Zionist country.

The military also said the air raid near Rafah city targeted the tunnel which was usually used to smuggle explosive materials to Gaza.

Voice of America reported two Palestinian groups, the Populists Front and the Democratic Front admitted shooting mortars in Erez, the borderline area between Gaza and Israel on Sunday, August 8. The government of Israel and Palestine said at least two mortars exploded near an ambulance which was taking a patient from Palestine to Israel.

Commenting on the attacks, Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, assumed the withdrawal of Israel’s troops from the Gaza Strip four years ago was a mistake. “The withdrawal didn’t bring peace or security,” Netanyahu said.

He also said two years after Israel retracted its troops from the Gaza Strip, the Hamas group managed to take Gaza over from Fatah.

Earlier, around 2300 Fatah’s delegations supported the forming of Palestinian country. Fatah also said the Palestinians could resume the fight against Israel’s occupation. Israel’s Defense Minister, Ehud Barak said he was considering the steps in facing the decision of Fatah's group.
