VIVAnews - Indonesian economist Faisal Basri stated that the forecasted economic growth of five percent in 2010 made by the government was too low. --
He viewed the government can boost the economy beyond the targeted design prepared in the 2010 State Budget.
According to him, the improving export, one of the criteria in the 2010 economy, could have been better. "The government has been very pessimistic by only setting the economic growth by 5 percent," Faisal told VIVAnews.
Next year, the Indonesian economic growth is expected to reach around 5.4-5.9 percent. "The government still refers to the quarterly economic growth in the past two years," he said.
He added that next year, the economy will still be supported by transportation and communication, consumption, utility (electricity, water and gas).
