VIVAnews - After the President Director of Microsoft Indonesia, Tony Chen, resigned, Microsoft is still looking for his replacement.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has introduced a man who will be in charge of leading Microsoft Indonesia. He is Faycal Bouchlaghem, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Microsoft Indonesia.

Bouchlaghem is one of Microsoft’s veterans who has been working in the IT industry for 17 years. Before being appointed Microsoft Indonesia COO, the Tunisia-born guy was serving as the General Manager of the Emerging Segments Markets Development Group for Microsoft Asia Pacific Region since 2006.

The holder of the Applied Mathematics Masters Degree first joined Microsoft in 1996. Earlier, Bouchlaghem, who is the graduate of Université Denis Diderot, Paris, France, worked for the management of Abaque Software, Dell Computer and MicroWarehouse in France.

Later, the father of two daughters and a soon-to-be son was trusted to be the Country Manager of Microsoft Tunisia and the Channel Distribution Management of Microsoft France.

The former student of Harvard Business School and AIEP INSEAD program then joined the Singapore-based Microsoft Asia Pacific in 2002.

According to Bouchlaghem, Indonesia has been one of the countries of which the global Microsoft pays attention to. “Indonesia is considered the next best thing besides countries like Brazil, Russia, India and China, “he said.

Therefore, there are three main targets that Bouchlaghem has set in leading Microsoft Indonesia. The first one is to become the biggest contributor in order to diminish the digital divide among the people.

The next one, according to him, is to contribute to the Indonesian economy by supporting the creation of job opportunities while the third one is to improve the condition of working environment in Indonesia.

Under the leadership of Tony Chen, Indonesia has gained several accomplishments. Microsoft held computer trainings for tens of thousands teachers and around 2 million farmers and provided economical software package solutions for college students and small and medium sized businesses.

Also, while Chen was leading the company, a developer group from Indonesia won the world’s software tournament Microsoft Imagine Cup. Bouchlaghem will effectively head Microsoft Indonesia after Chen officially quits his position in Microsoft on September 30.
