VIVAnews - The Indonesian Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) suggested the Justice and Human Rights Department to fix the value of Visa On Arrival (VOA) tariff related to the alleged fund embezzlement of VOA issuance at Ngurah Rai airport in Denpasar, Bali.

"There is a tariff difference. It creates loopholes," said the BPK chairperson Anwar Nasution in Jakarta on Friday, Aug. 21.

The agency found fund embezzlement of the VOA issuance. The findings show that the fund worth Rp 6 billion is not added to the state budget as non-tax state revenue. The fund comes from the VOA issuance from January until May 2009. The case was reported by the Immigration Directorate to the BPK.

The tariff difference is related to the difference on the period of the visa validity. The Immigration Directorate issues two visas. The first one is the seven-day visa, and the other one is the thirty-day visa.

Nasution questioned the thirty-day visa mechanism. "If [the tourists] do not stay for 30 days, will the money be refunded?" he said. He also added that the agency found that the visa could be used for several times. "This is not only about money," he stressed.

Other than fixing the tariff price, the agency is asking the Justice and Human Rights Department to increase the system monitoring and improvement.
