VIVAnews - Although the fasting month has just started a week ago, there have been many people storming the pawnshop operated by the state-owned Perum Pegadaian out of cash necessity.
"If compared to normal days, our turnover has shown an increase around 30 percent, or equivalent to Rp 200 billion," said the head of the Perum Pegadaian of Bandung office Sriyanto last weekend.
According to him, the costumers pawn their goods to fulfil their necessities during the fasting month until the Lebaran which is estimated to fall on Sept. 21-22.
He added that the turnover increase in the fasting month is expected to boost the turnover target until the end of 2009, valuing Rp 3.2 trillion. Moreover, the turnover in the first semester has reached 90 percent of the target.
"The target value is double the target in the previous year valuing Rp 1.6 trillion," he said.
Previously, Perum Pegadaian of Bandung office's assistant manager of main business and marketing Marulitua said that the Perum Pegadaian of Bandung office's 2009 turnover showed an increase compared to the turnover in 2008.
In the first five month, the turnover had reached Rp 1.26 trillion, meanwhile in the same period of 2008, the company gathered Rp 800 billion turnover.
With more than 240 outlets spread in most of West Java, the Perum Pegadaian of Bandung office is optimistic to reach its target.
