VIVAnews - Bank Indonesia (BI) predicts that the September inflation can reach three percent if the government can maintain the supply and distribution during the Lebaran period.
"In the end of the year, [the inflation] may reach 4 percent despite the potential to increase," said BI deputy governor Hartadi A Sarwono in Jakarta on Monday, Sept. 28.
Meanwhile, the Lebaran transactions were not as high as the previous years due to the economic recession which had cut the people's income. "We can say that we're still in the economic recession period, but we are going to the positive and improving situation. The inflation will increase if the transaction rises," he added.
He explained that the economic growth in 2009 is predicted to reach 4 percent and is depended on the global economy to increase exports. In the third quarter, the 2009 economic growth is predicted to decrease and to increase in the fourth quarter. "The 2009 economic growth will reach 4 percent and later increase to 5 percent or more in 2010," he said.
