VIVAnews - Indonesia will soon announce the data of defects caused by the West Sumatra earthquake to the international world in order to help them sorting out the kinds of assistance the victims needed.
“Within a short while, we’ll inform it to the international world according to the new design which we’ll be completed,” Foreign Affairs Minister Hassan Wirajuda said after the launch of Foreign Affairs Department’s new portal on Tuesday, October 6.
The design, according to Wirajuda, is a sort of rehabilitation and reconstruction design including the points that would be proposed to establish collaboration with the international community. “We will be evaluating the process of emergency responses and later moving on to the rehabilitation and reconstruction,” he said.
Up until Monday, Indonesia has granted 55 flying permits to foreign aircrafts, including Malaysia, which carried medical teams.
“We’ll evaluate how far the volunteers have gone to help finding missing people and on whether it has been effective,” Wirajuda said.
However, Wirajuda believes the presence of foreign rescue teams with all of their equipments is adequate. “So, probably it is required to shift medical assistance from the city to the areas outside Padang,” he said.
The President, Wirajuda said, has played an important role in moving the foreign aid to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of public facilities such as hospitals, schools and religious centers which will be covered by the fund from the State and Regional Budget.
