VIVAnews - A business transformation, which will be conducted by PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), is predicted to have several logical consequences. The state-run telecommunication company will leave out subsidiaries that are no longer in accordance to the roadmap.
However, it is also possible for Telkom to acquire other companies in order to achieve its target, rather than releasing its subsidiaries.
As reported earlier, Telkom management would effectuate a business transformation, turning from a telecommunication-based company into a T.I.M.E (Telecommunication, IT Services, Media and Edutainment) company in the next five years.
The two subsidiaries that would possibly be excluded are Patrakom and CSM. In addition, there are also two content companies which are being eyed on by the company.
“The tower provider Solusi Kreasindo Pratama (SKP) is one of the companies that has been acquired to support our infrastructure. The acquisition process will be done shortly,” Telkom’s president director Rinaldi Firmansyah said to the reporters at his office.
Telkom’s transformation initiative is generally and essentially urged by the market’s future requirements. “We don’t think the transformation is too early. It’s time for us to change our strategy including altering the company’s logo and tagline. Our new motto is ‘The World is in Your Hand’,” Firmansyah said.
Unfortunately, he refused to mention the fund’s value allocated for the transformation. “As for next year’s capital investment, it won’t be much different than this year’s amount, which is about US$ 2-2.1 million or around Rp 20 trillion,” he said.
