VIVAnews - The new economic team of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's cabinet will be dealing with three main challenges within the next five years, Economist head of Bank Negara Indonesia, Tony Prasetiantono, told VIVAnews on Thursday, Oct 22.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa helms the economic team.
Tony said the first challenge is concerned with the realization of the infrastructure projects which may result in efficiency, inflation decrease and investment advancement.
He then claimed that the State Budget should be made solid by boosting tax revenue and tax ratio in order to catch up with the neighboring countries as regards best practice with 20 percent. Should this be implemented, debt dependency would be alleviated. "There will be fiscal autonomy," he said.
The team should also encourage sustainable industrialization which may contribute to the gross domestic product (GDP) as well as absorbing employment.
