VIVAnews - Indonesian Minister of Informatics and Communication Tifatul Sembiring stated that the local software industry will bring significant impact toward the Indonesian IT industry.
"We need extra efforts to boost the production of local software products. This is in turn solely aimed at improving the quality of the nation's human resources," he said on Thursday, Oct 22. "Moreover, the increase in local software will give more pressure to the high IT expenditure," he added.
Tifatul said the distribution of local software products in the future will be coordinated with other ministries.
"We can take higher portion over the high IT expenditure to foreign software producers which values Rp 7 trillion (US$738 million)," he said.
Indonesia has promising market in cellular service with a potential of 160 million users which props up the local software industry.
