VIVAnews - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is planning to build 2,000 bamboo houses for quake victims in West Sumatra province.
Based on PMI's press release on Friday, Oct 23, the program aims at providing dwellings for thousands of the victims who are now living in the refugee camp.
Operational Coordinator of PMI Command Post at West Sumatra Region Hidayatul Irwan revealed that 2,000 bamboo houses are to be realized sooner after a deal is cemented on Saturday, Oct 24.
Each unit of bamboo houses is estimated to cost Rp 2.5 million to Rp 3 million.
The temporary shelters are expected to be developed in Padang Municipality, Pesisir Selatan Municipality, Pariaman Regency and Agam Regency.
35 PMI volunteers will be involved in the construction process.
