VIVAnews - The Indonesian government prepares compensation by Rp 2.7 billion (US$286.624)for the dead victims of the 7.9 on the Richter Scale earthquake which occurred in West Sumatra on September 30, 2009.
According to Coordinator of the Disaster Management Force of West Sumatra, Sudirman Gani, the fund will be channelled after the verification processes are completed.
"The disbursement will await the submission of data from each affected area," said Gani.
According to the latest record issued by the Force, the death toll from the earthquake reached 1,117. Each family of the deceased victims will be paid up Rp 2.5 million.
However, of the death toll, around 907 bodies are identified while the remaining 210 are buried under the landslide in Agam and Padang Pariaman regencies.
A number of mass burial grounds spotted in the area while the identities of the inearthed are still being revealed. "We are awaiting result of the data collection of those buried in the areas," said Gani.
Final data showed that the quake caused the death of 675 people in Padang Pariaman while 315 were listed dead in Padang.
Agam Regency recorded that 80 were dead in the area; Pariaman, 32; Pesisir Selatan Regency, 9; Solok, 3; Pasaman Barat, 3.
